Japan Memoirs: Chp 4 - An unforgettable experience

Apr 18 - Tokyo Day
It was so so much easier this time round with the new luggage, although im manouvering TWO luggages up and down staircases and all...we set off very early too...with the determination of a worker ant, we very quickly loaded and unloaded a total of abt 10 pieces of luggage and handcarry in super duper quick time bcoz we were super scared the train will move off w/ our luggages....oh and did i mention i nearly dropped my purse into the gap btw the platform and the train??? The gap was pretty wide compared to Spore standards..i dropped my purse, it slided and landed just short 5cm from the gap....WALIEW MY HEART NEARLY POP OUT.As if im not unlucky enuff...

Finally..my dream destination for a long time, I've arrived....TOKYO.

Once again, i cant believe im in Tokyo, Japan...still very surreal to me. The very first thing we set off to do is to search for Burberry Blue and Black labels (blueberry and blackberry for short). We hunted dept stores and flagship stores high and low...even when we were gawdamnit tired..even when it rained..even when the wind chilled us to the bone...we were relentless in our pursuit of black and blue berry. In the end, Lenus bought her blackberry wallet from this manager that resembles Allan Wu...a spiffier, younger and leaner version...oooh man, me and lenus went a lil loony and were gushing over him. Hey we were hungry and cold..its normal to be delirious in that circumstances. Over the course of these 2 weeks, we did many embarassing and super sporean-like acts..one of which, was when we finally located the blackberry shop, its sign was "closed"..we were disappointed naturally. However we realised the staff were still, they were serving the last customer, plus the doors werent yet locked, so we deciced to take a gamble and went in. Luckily they didnt turn us away...in the end all of the staff stayed behind to serve us and we even tooka picture with the burberry vespa!

Apr 19 - Mt Fuji Day
One of the most unforgettable moment was when i laid eyes on the snowscape around Mt Fuji and the beloeved mountain itself from a distance. Took the Sunrise tour from Metropolitan Tokyo Hotel...tour guide was an old fogey who speak pretty decent english...we were all drifiting in and out of sleep on the bus...before i closed my eyes, all around me were buildings..when i opned my eyes again..we were up there in the middle of nowhere heading for Mt fuji...glass window was super cold..the clouds were so much nearer to us...something like Genting, with a nicer view. In the end, bcoz of the amount of snow and they couldnt clear the road in time, we didnt even step foot on Mt fuji...juz stopped at base point to take pictures and went on take the tram up this mountain...which had fantastic view too...definitely 1 of my fav places...too bad we only had like 5 mins on top of the god-forsaken place (with white snow as canvas and backdrop) and we were hurdled off again. See? i hate tours....like sheeps on a hot tin roof..rushing thru everywhere.
Our guide is a nice old fellow who never failed to keep his old spritely spirits up among the sleepers, the talkers(even though hes like over 70). He even taught us how to do a Mt Fuji origami which was reli reli cool and duh! Once we reached back to Tokyo, we rushed to Takashimaya to collect our blueberry bags me and cheryl ordered. Their Takashimaya is sooo much bigger and posher than ours. In fact they were being too extravagant with manpower. They just about have 6 - 10 staff stationed each level to greet ALL CUSTOMERS. Even has a lift operator to operate the lift...wat a waste of manpower! Too much staff...way too much.

Apr 20 - Shopping Day
The only full whole undisturbed day where we can shop, or rather dash around to pick up whatever we want. Had difficulties locating some stores in Harajuku, but still managed to find them in the end...loved the Graniph tees..too bad cant buy more burberrys and Paul Smiths..and more cream puffs..

Apr 21 - Airport Trauma(Again!)
Visited Ueno Park in the morning, hoping to get a glimspe of the visual arts peepz (think cosplay n obiang jap teens)..but nope there were only families and elderly..guess those artsy ppl only come out of their cocoons much later..

Was feeling sad at this point, coz we'll be on a plane back to Home Stress Home in a few hours time...more on that later in my final wrap up.

Yes yes, we sure are jinxed as hell...this time round, Im the lucky victim. Silly us forgotten about the liquid ban in handcarrys...loaded our bags with boxes of Fancl vitamins drinks, shu uemura oil cleansing liquid, coke cans from the vending machines (coz they'r cute)and other liquid barangs barangs etc..after much haggling, explaiation, repacking of suitcases...i had to run to the SIA counter to pack my liquids into a seperate box and check in as my 3rd peice of luggage...and damn the japs who didnt let me pack my souvenir cutlery shark knife in as well...%^$%^$&%^$ Was almost on a breakdown bcoz I had already lost a camera, didnt want my purchases to be detained by the Japs like my knife..thank god the SIA counter peeps were helpful and luckily we checked in early...
After all this brouhaha...damn shagged. Just wanna go home peacefully in one peice and sleep 72hrs on my bed.

Had long deep thoughts on flight home, rewinding and backtracking all those eventful instances...felt that this wasnt a holiday...like had just fought another war, facing nitemares and stress again. I didnt feel more relaxed nor recharged, in fact, even more tired and uninspired.

What the hell.

Caught Blood Diamond on plane back, Leonardo DiCaprio is my new found 'idol' on my list of "admirable actors"...damn he rocks!
